2011 Mustang 3.7L V6 Turns 11’s, it’s built by American Muscle

2011 Mustang 3.7L V6 Turns 11’s, it’s built by American Muscle

For years a little company called American Muscle has been turning hi-performance rides for a long time while giving Mustang owners all over the USA options with performance speed parts to turn their own Mustangs into the dream Stang. With the 2011 Mustang’s 3.7L V6 setting the bar for the most horsepower for an entry level pony car engine, laying down 300+ HP and 31 miles per gallon highway is nothing to sneeze at for driver fun and economy. But if you want more, adding the kick like a Mustang supercharger or turbocharger can give you the additional power without a hit on the mpg.

Well, American Muscle took a stock 2011 Mustang with the V6 (automatic transmission), added a new performance free flowing exhaust system complete with BBK long tube headers, an off-road x-pipe and Borla axle back exhaust  providing the extra flow this engine needs to breath more life into the pony. The 3.7L V6 will feel more like a V8 before long. To add more positive flow, a Procharger Tuner supercharger kits with 80 lbs injectors were added to provide the right amount of fuel to turn all that forced induction into usable zero to whatever times. When the
power was where AM wanted it they checked out the traction issues by adding fixed lower control arms and adjustable control arms with skinny tires in front and drag radials in back. A new set of 3.73 gears provides the right ratio of speed and acceleration.

The goal was to get this 30 mpg Mustang into the 11 second quarter mile times. Now it’s time to head to the drag way for the test run.  What a cool run, the 2011
Mustang broke into the 11’s running an impressive 11.94 at a 115+ ¼ mile speed
through the traps. Another run was put down later that day once the air temperature was cooler and it ran an 11.90 at 116.12 mph. Very impressive for
any new 2011 Mustang let alone a V6 with headers and a supercharger kit. For
about $6,000 you could replicate this car’s performance add-ons, not a bad way
to create the ultimate fuel efficient sleeper. With headers, supercharger, exhaust system, and new gears all an easy upgrade for the average back yard mechanic.
